Training on utilizing the Right to Information (RTI) mechanism

WERC continues its activities successfully under the Bread for the World funded project titled “Strengthening Cohesive Action by Women Leaders of the Mullaitivu District, Northern Province, Sri Lanka.” The latest was an intense training on utilizing Right to Information (RTI) successfully which was conducted as a follow-up to the project to other training sessions. A total of 30 participants underwent this comprehensive training led by two prominent trainers with extensive experience in RTI-related research. This training enabled the women leaders to directly engage with issues identified through the training and apply the RTI tool in their community to address these issues.

The follow-up training was held from June 12th to 13th, 2024. The feedback from participants was very encouraging. They felt empowered and confidently declared, “Yes, we can bring justice and peace to the community as women.”

WERC will continue to follow up on the application of RTI and will further empower participants with more actionable outcomes
