Ms. Shiranee Mills

Ms Shiranee Mills assumed duties as the Executive Director of the Women’s Education and Research Centre in 2016. She has worked in various non governmental organisations including as Acting Director and Senior Project Officer at the Women’s Education and Research Centre, a Development Advisor at the Canadian Development Agency (CIDA) Programme Support Unit in Sri Lanka and a Gender Specialist at the Sri Lanka Resident Mission at the Asia Development Bank. 

Ms Mills has an extensive teaching career which includes positions held at Bishop’s College, Asian International School and Uduvil Girls College, the latter at which she served as Vice Principal from 1992-1996 and Principal from 2005-2016. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English and Western Classical Culture from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and a Master of Arts in Women’s Studies from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education. Ms. Mills is also a professional Singer (Vocal – Western) and has obtained her Licentiate from the Trinity College of Music London.
